Staniel Cay is located 90 miles SE of
Nassau, New Providence, the capital of the Bahamas.Direct
flights from Ft. Lauderdale and Nassau are available. It
is an extremely friendly island with a local population of 100 Bahamains
who live and work in and around Staniel Cay. The area offers excellent
fishing, snorkeling, diving, shelling, hiking, swimming and just about
everything under the sun & water, including boat rentals for waterskiing,
wakeboarding and secluded island exploring. Several movies have been
filmed here including, "Never Say Never", "Thunderball"
(where you can snorkel through the caves) & "Splash".
Uninhabited nearby islands offer extreme privacy, picturesque beaches
and gin clear warm Bahamain waters. There are 3 small grocery stores
for locals and visitors alike, offering a variety of items including
local fruits that arrive in the operating mail boats from Nassau. There
is a local island bar as well as a Yacht
Club both serving lunch & dinner daily. Ask for the
catch of the day!

windbreaker in the winter, camera and film (underwater disposables work
well), insect repellent, a good book or two, and maybe a portable music
player.
